The festival: St. John’s Time: 11 days of festival and fun includes the world-famous George Street Festival, the Royal St. John’s Regatta, St. John’s Downtown Buskers Festival and the Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival. The goal of the campaign is to remind the approximately 500,000 residents living/working outside the province about the festival and encourage return to St. John’s to participate in the festivities. The promotion, linked from the festival’s micro site at www.stjohnstime.ca, allows residents the online opportunity to enter a sweepstakes for a chance to bring 2 family members back home for the festival. Utilizing viral marketing techniques/tools included in the tmSuite, participants can invite others to learn about the festival and enter the contest...with each additional ‘referred entry’ adding another entry ballot to the resident that sent the referral. The campaign featured both viral and social-networking advertising tactics to increase the program’s reach and awareness.
